What does a donation to StreetLight USA purchase for the survivors in residence?

Every monetary and in-kind donation made to StreetLight USA is tax deductible according to the IRS rules for 501 (c) 3 non-profit organizations.  The girls in residence are survivors of incredible trauma and are in need of a large array of resources, which come largely through donations within the community.

But what does a dollar purchase for the girls when it is donated to StreetLight USA?  When at capacity, 48 girls will be provided for and housed.

Donations of the indicated amounts may go toward the following examples of expenses*:

$13.00:  The recommended amount for Abolitionists and Campaign13 donors  

  • 1-2 field trip admissions for one girl (movies, bowling, concerts, recreation places)
  • Sundries (soaps, shampoos, toothpaste etc) for one girl for one month
  • “Adopt a girl” for one day: All costs associated with one bed-night (24 hours of services) for one girl is $13 X 22 = $285
  •  (Average cost per girl will decrease as we get closer to capacity)
  • “Adopt a girl” for one week  $285 X 7 = $1995
  • “Adopt a girl” for one month  $285 x 31 =$8835
$25.00 Examples:
  • Membership for one month for one girl to YMCA for exercise and fitness
  • “Adopt a YMCA membership for 2 girls for one month” $50.00
  • “Adopt a YMCA membership for 4 girls for one month” $100.00
$50.00 Examples:
  • One month of arts and crafts supplies per girl
  • “Adopt Arts and Crafts” for four girls for one month = $200
  • One tank of gas for one van (for field trips, doctor appointments, legal appointments for the girls, etc.)
  • “Adopt a van” with 2 fill-ups = $100
  • “Adopt a van” with 5 fill-ups = $250
  • “Adopt a van” with 10 fill-ups = $500
$100.00 Examples:
  • 6 months of produce through Market on the Move (produce rescue project)

  • School supplies for one girl for one year
  • “Adopt school supplies for a year” for 2 girls = $200
  • “Adopt school supplies for a year” for 5 girls = $500
  • One caregiver shift in a cottage for one day = $110
  • “Adopt a caregiver” for a week  $110 x 5 = $550
  • “Adopt a caregiver” for a month  $550 X 4 = $2200
  • “Adopt a 24/7 cottage of caregivers” for a month (3 shifts/day/31 days)   $110 x 93 = $10,230
$500.00 Examples:
  • Upgraded computer set up for one girl for online school work
  • “Adopt a month of technology costs” for StreetLight = $2100
  • “Adopt 2 months of technology costs” for StreetLight = $4200
  • “Adopt 6 months of technology costs” for StreetLight = $12, 600
$10,000.00 Examples:
  • “Adopt a 24/7 cottage of caregivers” for a month (3 shifts/day/31 days)   $110 x 93 = $10,230
  • “Adopt a 24/7 cottage of caregivers” for a month for all 6 cottages  $10,230 X 6 = $61,380
$50,000 Examples:
  • “Adopt a 24/7 cottage of caregivers” for 5 months $10,230 X 5 = $51,150
