StreetLight USA: Standing strong in the fight against child sex slavery

Luk 10:27 And he answered, “YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND; AND YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”

StreetLight needs your help to fight child sex slaveryPart of our call to love our neighbor includes looking at the social justice issues that surround us.  On any given day in the US, multiple thousands of little children, or nearly one out of every 250, will be forced into sex acts for pay.   This translates to 3 little children out of an average-sized elementary school and 10-20 from an average-sized high school.  This federal crime is also illegal in every state, and is the most egregious form of child abuse.  We cannot afford to look the other way any longer.

StreetLight USA was created to provide restorative services to 11-17 year old girls who have been recovered from sex trafficking, and to help bring an end to child sex slavery. We are now a national organization, receiving children from all over the country.  As our focus has been refined and our mission made more robust, we have implemented changes to equip us for being a more potent force in the fight against forced prostitution of children.

We have hit the restart button with new energy and the expertise of local advocates and champions who are partnering with us to fight this injustice of domestic minor sex trafficking.  We have a strong network of law enforcement, social services and civic and religious organizations that are walking with us, and we are preparing to be fully staffed to take the maximum number of girls.

Important information about StreetLight USA

  •  StreetLight was born from a grassroots effort of caring community members;
  •  It has received and continues to gain national recognition for its efforts, starting with awareness and then building its capacity to open a residential program;
  • StreetLight has undergone many progressive changes including the most recent re-tooling of its residential program both from a curriculum and staffing perspective, bringing on board experts having extensive experience with sex trafficked adolescents
  • Program curriculum:  We are moving to evidence-based materials and methods,  and we are partnering with ASU to bring programming models that have been proven effective. StreetLight’s residential program activities will be monitoried by subject matter experts.
  • Partnerships are being established that will help to sustain the organization through resource sharing
  • Staffing: With 23 years of combined experience, Kristi Hickle, Recreational Planner/Volunteer Engagement and Michael Klinkner, Residential Director, have joined StreetLightUSA. Both have extensive experience in adolescent development and behavioral treatment.

Your partnership with us is so important!  Every precious life that we nurture and love back to health represents 10-20 violent sex crimes each night against this child that will no longer happen!   But the needs of these devastated and broken children are immense, requiring a multitude of community resources meticulously woven into a network of compassion and support.  As more girls are placed with us and we move into full capacity, the needs will continue to expand.

Please see how your end of the year gift can be doubled for maximum impact in the fight to save these innocent little ones.
