From the Streetlight Classroom:  12/23/11

Hope carried in the heart has a chance to reset each January. Today in the Streetlight classroom we shared with each other our top three goals for the New Year.

Miss K, a resident, fired off her list without hesitation:

  • #1. Go Home,
  • #2. Get a job,
  • #3. Stay in school.

Mrs. A., Direct Care staff, took a few moments to reflect. She is busy with family, Grad. school and work:

  • #1. Time Management,
  • #2. To be healthier,
  • #3. A chance to travel to California for a get-away weekend.

Miss N, another resident, has her spring birthday in mind:

  • #1. Preparation to be 18,
  • #2. Make a good start at independent living,
  • #3.  Graduate High School this year.

Mrs. H, Direct Care Volunteer, met her goal of reading through the Bible last year:

  • #1. Do it again,
  • #2. Complete a portfolio of her portrait work,
  • #3. Develop an art program for the girls at Streetlight.

The hopes and dreams we carry in our hearts at Streetlight are the same hopes and dreams you might have for 2012: a stable home and improved family relationships, rewarding work, a balanced and healthy life, schooling, a chance to travel. We hope that when you pause to reset your vision for 2012, you will help us carryour dreams alongside your own this year.
