How can we honor the girls at Streetlight during the Christmas season?

This post was written by Holly Craw

For the girls at StreetLight USA, this may be the first Christmas that they can be beloved children, enjoying the magic of the season without fear, without chaos, and without being harmed or violated.  It is important that they be honored as the beautiful, precious young ladies that they are.

With community support, the caregivers and staff of StreetLight USA will be able to provide some of the pieces that children in healthy families can expect.

  • Presents that affirm their worthiness and delightfulness.  These are some of the items on the girls’ wishlists:
    * Pink or blue iPod (or iPod Touch)
    * Red or black Chuck Taylor’s Converse–size 7.5 or 8
    * Nail polish (red, purple, maroon, hot pink)
    * Pink flat iron (Pink lotion or Blue Magic Hair Grease)
    * White Nikes Airforces Size 7.5 or 8
    * Pink zip up sweater (large)
    * Gold bracelet or nexklace
    * Colorful knee socks
    * Blue slippers (house shoes)
    * Applebee’s gift card
    * Blue silk hair scarf
  • Items for a Christmas dinner with the caregivers
  • Gift cards that can be used for a variety of ongoing needs such as field trips, sundries, prescriptions, household items and supplies.  Visa and MasterCard are preferred as they give the most flexibility
  • Christmas cards to affirm the girls and their courageous steps toward a new life.
