Training for sex trafficking activists provided by Shared Hope International Jan 12

Linda Smith is a former congresswoman who discovered that very young children in far-off places such as Thailand were openly being sold as sex slaves in a booming enterprise of forced child prostitution.  As she visited such hotbeds for sex crimes against children and researched the issue, she realized that the same is happening in the United States.  She started Shared Hope International (SHI) to address these components of a multi-billion dollar underworld agenda:

Prevention of further abuse through awareness and international alliances to combat sex trafficking.

Rescue and Restore:  Through partnerships with local restoration centers, SHI can successfully remove women and children from sexual exploitation and begin the healing process.

Bring Justice:  SHI works with states and federal government to support the development of a legislative framework that will assure that the right person is identified as the criminal and penalized in a meaningful way upon conviction, that victims’ rights are protected, and assets of perpetrators can be used to help fund restoration of the survivors.

Part of Shared Hope’s mission is to provide training to local law enforcement and social service agencies that deal with the sex trafficked children for a more uniform understanding of the problem and its resolution.  Arizona is scheduled to have two trainings this week, one in Phoenix and one in Tucson.
